Reducing your particulate and sulphur emissions

Gas-to-Liquid (GTL) diesel is a clean-burning alternative to conventional fossil diesel. Its pollutant emissions levels are substantially lower than those of conventional fuels. This means cleaner air for your workers, the local community, and the environment at large.

What is GTL Diesel?

Gas-to-Liquid (GTL) diesel is a synthetic, cleaner-burning alternative to traditional crude oil-based diesel. It’s manufactured in an advanced refinery process called Fischer-Tropsch, which converts gas to liquid by breaking down hydrogen and carbon molecules into heavier, uniform hydrocarbon molecules.

This colorless, odorless fuel can be used as a direct “drop-in” replacement for diesel, meaning it can power diesel vehicles without any engine modifications. GTL diesel offers a wide range of uses across various industries, including transport, agriculture, and construction, making it a valuable tool for improving your organization’s sustainability credentials.

Does GTL Improve Air Quality?

GTL diesel significantly reduces emissions compared to conventional diesel. It leads to immediate reductions in local emissions of regulated pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx) by up to 37%, particulate matter (PM) by up to 50%, carbon monoxide (CO), and hydrocarbons (HC).

Furthermore, GTL diesel is classified as readily biodegradable and non-toxic, minimising its environmental impact. Beyond pollutant reduction, GTL diesel can also reduce noise levels in some engines due to its more uniform combustion. It also offers better starting performance in cold conditions due to its higher cetane number.

Is GTL approved by OEM Manufacturer Warranty?

With widespread OEM approval, as evidenced by many Original Engine Manufacturers (OEMs) approving EN15940 GTL and GTL in their handbooks, the adoption of GTL diesel can play a crucial role in mitigating the environmental impact of transportation and other diesel-powered industries.
