In 2020, we helped organisations reduce CO2 emissions by over 6,700 tonnes.
what is HVO?
HVO is a low carbon, low emission, fossil-free and sustainable alternative to conventional fossil diesel. It is fully interchangeable with conventional diesel, and can be mixed at any percentage.
HVO is not biodiesel. It is a fundamentally different fuel to biodiesel, and as such doesn’t suffer from any of biodiesel’s associated issues.
Manufactured to EN 15940, the specification for paraffinic diesel fuels, HVO empowers you to do the right thing for the planet; dramatically reducing your organisation’s carbon footprint without ever compromising on performance.
Instantly lower emissions
Provides net GHG CO2 saving of 90% in comparison to regular Diesel.
Direct and immediate carbon reduction.
ISCC certified (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification).
ISCC provides specific GHG emission savings.
ISCC enables efficient carbon emission assessment, management and reporting.
HVO provides superior performance in storage and application than both first generation Biodiesels and conventional Diesel.
No risk of oxidation or degradation, the hydrogeneration method of producing HVO removes all oxygen from the fuel.
Highly stable fuel. Store trouble and maintenance free. Shelf life of up to 10 years.
No risk of microbial attack; cannot absorb water or atmospheric pressure that can lead to microbial attack.
Provides dependable cold weather performance, providing trouble free flow through the coldest winter temperatures, no concern about cold flow waxing or precipitation.
Completely interchangeable with conventional fossil Diesel. Can be blended at any percentage.
No changes required to the engine or operational infrastructure.
Switch between HVO and Diesel without concern about maintenance requirements or tank cleaning implications.
Wide range of OEM approvals provide no warranty concerns when switching between the two products.
Cutting carbon emissions down to size
Manufactured from 100% renewable and sustainable waste derived raw materials.
ISCC certified. ISCC is an independent, globally applicable, sustainability certification system. The certificates provides proof that it meets; high environmental, social and full traceability requirements.
ISCC proof of sustainability specifically confirms the; production facility, raw material origin & type, supplier, traceability, the ability to sell into the market and the well to tank (WTT) Scope 3 GHG emission factor.
Accepted by UK government as a renewable fuel under the Road Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO).
lower emissions Profile
Up to 9% lower NOx emissions. Up to 33% lower levels of fine particulates. Up to 24% lower carbon monoxide.
Reduced levels of polyaromatics.
Case studies and tests, by independent third parties, are available on request; evidencing emission profiles in a range of applications.
Safer for all
The flashpoint, the lowest temperature at which the vapour the liquid produces will burn in air, is high at 61 Degrees C minimum; improving safety, handling and storage.
Biodegradable so avoids environmental damage if accidentally released into the ecosystem. Complies with EU REACH regulation as such is biodegradable according to OECD test guideline 301 B.
Practically insoluble in water.
Less carbon for zero capital
Most low carbon energy options require significant capital expenditure.
Interchangeable with Diesel (see above), requires no CAPEX and utilises the lifespan of existing assets & infrastructure.
HVO helps organisations spread the cost of reducing CO2 emissions.
HVO:Diesel blends provide organisations with price to carbon saving options to suit both their financial and environmental plans (see below).
Accepted and Proven
HVO is not a new fuel. It has been accepted and proven over the last 15 years.
Many Original Engine Manufacturers (OEMs) have approved EN15940 and specifically HVO including Scania, Volvo, DAF and Caterpillar.
Scania and Volvo even recommend HVO as the first fill fuel because it consistently provides improved engine performance and longevity.
Case studies and tests, by independent third parties, are available on request; evidencing emission profiles and performance in a range of applications.
